He worked as a national expert on detachment in the unit for Applied Genomics, Biotechnology for Health, in the directorate Health, DG Research, European Commission, Brussels and he had a position at the Blood Transfusion Centre in Ljubljana as the Head of the Unit for Collection and Processing of Haematopoietic Stem Cells. He collaborated as an Assistant Director for Technology Transfer with the National Institute of Biology research project where he coordinated international project SYSTHER. Currently he is a CEO of the biotech companies Educell Ltd. And Biobanka Ltd. Miomir is a member of the Investment board of the Venture Capital fund “ Prvi Kapital” in Ljubljana, an advisor in the Technology Park Ljubljana and a member of scientific advisory boards of several Biotech companies and research projects.
Lenart Girandon graduated from microbiology at the Department of Microbiology, at the Biotechnical faculty of University of Ljubljana. He completed the research part of his bachelor degree in Sweden, at University of Lund in 2006/07 and successfully defended it with the highest grade in 2007. After graduation he became a PhD student at the Medical faculty, University of Ljubljana. He has been employed as a young researcher at Educell Ltd. from the beginning of 2008, financed by the Ministry of the economy. Lenart successfully defended his PhD thesis in 2011, where he was researching new sources of adult stem cells and their suitability for regenerative medicine and was characterizing new source of growth factors and hormones from adult tissues. After his PhD he started developing testing systems for testing of active ingredients and biomaterials intended for clinical use on human primary cell cultures.
After graduating in Biology at the University of Ljubljana (1995), she continued with post-graduate studies in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She got her MSc (1998) and PhD (2000) degree investigating interactions of cytolytic toxins with lipid membranes. She continued the investigations as a postdoctoral fellow in the University of the Basque Country (2001 – 2003).

Since 2004 she is employed in Educell Ltd as a researcher. Currently, she is head of R&D and head of QC department. Her research interests are focused in chondrocytes, stem cells from adipose tissue and development of cell-based assays for drug (biologics) testing. Lately, she is mainly engaged in the development of new products for clinical use and biobanking of autologous stem cells.
