Treatment of VUR with UroArt™ cell product has been conducted by prim. dr. Andrej Kmetec at the Department of Urology, University Medical Centre, Ljubljana, Slovenia. To date 12 patients have been treated with this method. All the patients had been diagnosed with chronic renal failure and VUR higher than grade III.
Treatment with UroArt™ cell products implanted endoscopically under refluxing ureteral orifice has proved to be successful. In all the patients a clinically acceptable reduction of the grade of VUR was achieved, and in some cases VUR was completely cured. Some patients, treated with UroArt™ cell products, also successfully underwent renal transplantation.
