Cell product UroArt™ is an innovative product of tissue engineering. It is made from the patient’s own (autologous) cells harvested from ear cartilage. Cells are prepared for transplantation, together with a scaffold made from the patient’s own blood. The scaffold enables the implanted cells to remain in the vesicoureteral orifice.
Permanent regeneration is achieved by injecting the autologous cartilage cells, combined with a biodegradable, biocompatible polymer (autologous fibrin gel), into the part under the ureter orifice. This reinforces the ureter mouth, since the implanted cells constantly produce extracellular matrix rich in collagen. The autologous source of cells and plasma excludes the possibility of implant rejection.
